Since taking over management in 2015, Mr Hasan has been instrumental in transforming the business which began from selling curry puffs on a motorcycle into one of Singapore’s leading halal food manufacturers.

Today, the company imports, processes and distributes halal frozen food to more than 80 locations daily.

For Mr Hasan Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of homegrown F&B company, Pondok Abang, the journey to entrepreneurship was not a straightforward one. When asked how he decided to join the family business which his parents started in 1990, he credited his National Service experience as a fire fighter for shaping him into the ambitious and disciplined man he is today.

His hard work has not gone unnoticed. Berita Harian has featured many of his achievements and business milestones over the years. To commemorate these milestones, Mr Hasan proudly exhibits these news coverage on high-quality plaques made by SPH Media Archive Sales at his manufacturing facility in Jurong Food Hub. He fondly calls it the “Wall of Fame”.

How did the “Wall of Fame” come about?

We wanted a way to document our features, and we initially did so by cutting out the articles and framing them up. However, over time, these paper copies tend to discolour and deterioriate. It was in 2017 when I was attending a course that I came across a row of plaques on display at the course provider’s office. They looked grand and professional. I then reached out to SPH Media Archive Sales team and produced the plaques for all our subsequent news coverage. I continue to do so to this day whenever there is any feature.

"We now have 22 plaques on our “Wall of Fame” strategically displayed at a prime location that catches the eyes of visitors including key customers and partners."

What did the news plaques do for your business?

Almost every visitor is amazed by the number of news coverage we’ve had. It definitely builds up the confidence that our potential partners have in us and creates a positive perception of our company as these news coverage are a testament of our success and provide credibility for our business.
